Section 60-1-106 - Spacing of oil wells

(a)(1) Wells drilled in search of oil or gas to a depth of less than two thousand five hundred feet (2,500') shall not be located closer than four hundred feet (400') from any other well completed in, drilling to, or for which a permit shall have been granted to drill to the same pool. The distance of such oil and gas wells from any property line shall not be closer than two hundred feet (200').(2) This subsection (a) applies only in counties having a population of not less than seventeen thousand five hundred fifty (17,550) and not more than seventeen thousand six hundred fifty (17,650), according to the 1980 federal census or any subsequent federal census.(b)(1) Wells drilled in search of oil and gas shall not be located closer than four hundred feet (400') from any other well completed in, drilling to, or for which a permit shall have been granted to drill to the same pool; and not closer than two hundred feet (200') from any property line.(2) This subsection (b) applies only in counties having a population of not less than four thousand three hundred (4,300) and not more than four thousand four hundred (4,400) or in counties having a population of not less than seven thousand
