Section 63-13-102 - Legislative intent

This chapter is enacted for the purposes of protecting the public health, safety, and welfare and providing for state administrative control, supervision, licensure and regulation of the practice of physical therapy and occupational therapy. It is the general assembly's intent that only individuals who meet and maintain prescribed standards of competence and conduct may engage in the practice of physical therapy and occupational therapy as authorized by this chapter. This chapter is intended to promote the public interest and to accomplish the purposes stated in this section.Acts 1984, ch. 921, § 2; T.C.A., §§ 63-13-205, 63-13-105; Acts 1999, ch. 528, § 3.
