(a) The board of physical therapy has the power and authority to: (1) Evaluate the qualifications of applicants for licensure and provide for the examination of physical therapists and physical therapist assistants;(2) Adopt passing scores for examination;(3) Issue licenses to those who qualify under this chapter;(4) Regulate the practice of physical therapy by interpreting and enforcing this chapter, including disciplinary action;(5) Adopt and revise rules, as it deems necessary and appropriate, consistent with this chapter, for the discharge of its obligation under this section. Such rules, when lawfully adopted, shall have the effect of law;(6) Establish requirements for assessing continuing competence of licensees; and(7) Assess all license and registration fees.(b) The board of physical therapy shall establish minimum competency requirements that a physical therapist shall demonstrate in order to practice dry needling.Amended by 2015 Tenn.
