(a) Any person desiring an academic license to participate in a residency program shall: (1) Apply on a form prescribed by the board or via online application for an academic license;(2) Pay a fee as determined by the board; and(3) Have a residency program accepted by the board certify that the applicant has been accepted for its program.(b) The academic license shall terminate upon the applicant leaving the residency program.(c) Any person desiring to become licensed to practice podiatry in this state must:(1) Make application to the secretary of the board on a form prescribed by the board;(2) Pay an application fee as determined by the board;(3) Pass the examination conducted or accepted by the board; and(4) Successfully complete at least a one-year residency program approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education or its successor organization.(d) The board shall have the authority to issue locum tenens licenses to podiatrists licensed in another state who wish to practice podiatry in this state for a limited period of time and who meet all the requirements established by the board by rule for a locum tenens license.Amended by 2014 Tenn.
