(a) An apparent owner that contracts with a person to locate, deliver, recover, or assist in the location, delivery, or recovery of property of the apparent owner that is held by the treasurer may appoint or designate the person as the apparent owner's agent. The appointment or designation must be in a record signed by the apparent owner and delivered to the treasurer.(b) An apparent owner's agent is entitled to receive from the treasurer all information concerning the property which the apparent owner would be entitled to receive, including information that would otherwise be confidential information under § 66-29-178.(c) If authorized by the apparent owner, the apparent owner's agent may bring an action against the treasurer on behalf of, and in the name of, the apparent owner.Added by 2017 Tenn.
