(a) When the commissioner finds, upon investigation, that a public water supply or public sewerage system is an actual or potential menace to health because of improper location, quality of the source in case of public water supplies, inadequacy, faulty design, improper supervision, or inefficient operation, and that effective measures are not being carried out to correct these defects, the department may issue an order for their correction, and this order shall be complied with within the time limit specified in the order.(b) Such notice shall be made by personal service or shall be sent by registered mail to the person responsible for the operation of the public water supply or public sewerage system.(c) Investigations made in accordance with this section may be made at the initiative of the commissioner.Acts 1945, ch. 52, § 5; C.
