(a) When hepatitis A outbreaks in communities are of such a nature and proportion that the centers for disease control or the commissioner of health deems it appropriate to do targeted or widespread vaccination for hepatitis A, then vaccine shall be made available to that community through state funds, if no federal vaccine program covers the cost of any or all of the vaccine necessary to carry out the vaccination program.(b) For the purpose of funding the cost of the vaccine required by this section during outbreaks, it is the legislative intent to provide a sum-sufficient appropriation in each fiscal year's annual appropriation bill, which will be subject to approval of the commissioner of finance and administration.Acts 1996, ch. 1041, §§ 1, 2.
