Section 7-51-2102 - Prohibited policies

(a) A political subdivision of this state shall not adopt a policy that prohibits, or has the effect of prohibiting, based upon the type or source of energy to be delivered to or used by an individual customer:(1) The connection or reconnection of a utility service; or(2) The sale or installation of an appliance utilized for cooking, space heating, water heating, or another end use.(b) This section does not limit the ability of a political subdivision: (1) To choose utility services for properties owned by the political subdivision; or(2) To comply with the terms and conditions of a contract between the political subdivision and the Tennessee valley authority.Amended by 2023 Tenn.
