Tennessee Legal Code
(a) It is the duty of the county legislative body to appropriate sufficient funds to defray the expenses of the charter commission, which appropriation shall be not less than fifty thousand dollars ($50,000). Such funds shall be disbursed by the fiscal officer of the county upon appropriate documentation signed by the chair or the secretary of the charter commission.(b) The charter commission is authorized to employ such staff as may be required to assist in performing its duties, which staff shall be paid compensation as determined by the charter commission within the limits of funds appropriated pursuant to subsection (a).(c) Members of the charter commission shall not receive per diem or other compensation for their services except reimbursement of actual expenses authorized and approved by the charter commission.Acts 1991, ch. 497, § 202.
