Subject to appropriation by the county legislative body, counties may provide vehicles for the use of any salaried county official who is paid from county funds and who holds office by election of the people, by election of the county legislative body, or by election of any other county board or commission, and any clerk or master appointed by a chancellor, or, in the alternative, may provide a monthly car allowance to such salaried county officials.Acts 1957, ch. 279, §§ 2, 2A; 1979, ch. 346, §§ 1, 4; T.C.A., § 8-2516; Acts 1986, ch. 648, §1; 2012 , ch. 900, § 1.
