All retirement allowances and other benefits accrued or accruing to any person under chapters 34-37 of this title, the accumulated contributions of members and the cash and assets in the funds created under chapters 34-37 of this title shall not be subject to execution, attachment, garnishment, or other process whatsoever, nor shall any assignment thereof be enforceable in any court.Acts 1972, ch. 814, § 14; 1973, ch. 347, § 28; T.C.A., § 8-3944; Acts 1993, ch. 67, § 19; 2002, ch. 863, § 24.
