Previous to the convening of each biennial general assembly, the speaker of the senate and the speaker of the house of representatives may call upon the comptroller of the treasury to submit and review with them a current audit of the office of the treasurer. The speakers may appoint a committee of the general assembly for the purpose of such review.Code 1858, § 223 (deriv.
