(a) It is unlawful for any sheriff, deputy sheriff or constable to serve any summons, writ, process or other proceeding in any civil action when such officer is a salaried or commissioned employee of any party to the action or suit wherein any such summons, writ, process or other proceeding has been issued.(b) A violation of this section is a Class C misdemeanor.Acts 1959, ch. 237, §§ 1, 2; T.C.A., § 8-825; Acts 1989, ch. 591, § 113.
