Subject to the approval of the board of trustees, any member who is on leave of absence on account of military service or for any other purpose which might tend to increase the efficiency of the service of the member to his or her employer, may make monthly contributions to the retirement system on the basis of the salary or wage such member was receiving at the time such leave of absence was granted.Acts 1945, ch. 29, § 8; C.
