(a) The district has the responsibility to establish a hospital or hospital system within its boundaries to provide hospital and medical care to the district's residents.(b) The hospital system may include:(1) a hospital, clinic, health facility, extended care facility, outpatient facility, rehabilitation or recreation facility, pharmacy, medical laboratory, dental laboratory, physicians' office building, laundry facility, administrative facility, or other building related to a health facility or system;(2) a single or multiunit housing facility for medical staff, nurses, interns, other employees of a health facility or system, patients of a health facility, or relatives of patients admitted for treatment or care in a health facility;(3) a support facility related to a hospital project, including an office building, a parking lot or other parking structure, or a maintenance, safety, or utility facility, and any equipment related to the support facility; and(4) any other facilities the board determines necessary for hospital or medical care.
