(a) The department shall issue specialty license plates for:(1) a person wounded in the line of duty as a peace officer; or(2) a surviving spouse, parent, brother, sister, or adult child, including an adopted child or stepchild, of a person killed in the line of duty as a peace officer.(b) License plates issued under this section must include the words 'To Protect and Serve' above an insignia depicting a yellow rose superimposed over the outline of a badge.(c) The fee for issuance of the license plates is $20.(d) In this section, 'peace officer' has the meaning assigned by Section 1.07, Penal Code.
