(a) In this section, 'retired classroom teacher' means a person who:(1) was formerly employed as a classroom teacher, as that term is defined by Section 5.001, Education Code; and(2) is a retiree of the Teacher Retirement System of Texas.(b) The department shall issue specialty license plates for retired classroom teachers with at least 20 years of service teaching public school students. The license plates must include the words 'Retired Texas Teacher' and depict a Texas public education logo. The department shall design the license plates in consultation with the Texas Education Agency.(c) The fee for issuance of the license plates is $5.
