Texas Legal Code
(a) A person commits an offense if the person:(1) is required to establish financial responsibility under Subchapter F or K; (2) does not maintain evidence of financial responsibility; and(3) during the period evidence of financial responsibility must be maintained:(A) operates on a highway a motor vehicle owned by the person; or(B) knowingly permits another person, who is not otherwise permitted to operate a vehicle under this chapter, to operate on a highway a motor vehicle owned by the person.(b) An offense under this section is a misdemeanor punishable by:(1) a fine not to exceed $500;(2) confinement in county jail for a term not to exceed six months; or(3) both the fine and the confinement.
