Compensation assignments, employer acceptance required (a) If the compensation of a person due him or her for work and labor performed is attached under this chapter, the employer of the person shall, upon the request of the employee, accept a compensation assignment in an amount not in excess of 10 percent of the employee’s compensation, payable to the attaching creditor or his or her agent. (b) If the employer fails to accept the assignment within 10 days from the date that it is presented to him or her, he or she shall be liable to the creditor in the same manner as if the assignment had been formally accepted.
