Powers of guardian A guardian for a minor appointed by Probate Division of the Superior Court, as provided in this chapter, in the name and right of his or her ward, may receive, sue for, and recover debts and demands due to the ward. He or she may maintain and defend actions or suits when necessary for the recovery or protection of the property or person of his or her ward, settle accounts, demands, claims, and actions by or against his or her ward, including actions for injuries to the person or property of such ward and compromise, release, and discharge the same on such terms as he or she deems just and beneficial to his or her ward. § 2658.
