Appointment; eligibility; qualifications The City Manager shall be chosen and appointed by majority vote of the City Council for an indefinite term, solely on the basis of the City Manager’s professional qualifications. The City Manager need not be a resident of Montpelier or the State of Vermont at the time of appointment, but shall reside in the City during the City Manager’s tenure of office unless other conditions are approved by the Council.
