Certified copies; form (a) A town clerk shall furnish certified copies of any instrument on record in his or her office, or any instrument or paper filed in his or her office pursuant to law, on the tender of fees therefor, and his or her attestation shall be a sufficient authentication of the copies, except that the town clerk shall redact the word 'illegitimate' from any copy of a birth certificate he or she furnishes. (b) A town clerk shall furnish a certified copy of a vital event certificate only if authorized and as prescribed under 18 V.S.A. chapter 101. (Amended 1959, No. 329 (Adj. Sess.), § 27, eff.
