Telephones in public areas The selectboard of a town, or the Agency of Transportation in the case of State highways, may, upon written application and after notice to adjacent landowners, permit the construction, erection, and maintenance of public telephones, telephone booths, and appurtenances to them within the limits of public highways, sidewalks, parks, and parking areas when consistent with the public interest under reasonable rules, regulations, and arrangements as it may prescribe. § 2530.
