Misuse or removal of official identification devices A person who, without authority from the Secretary, removes or causes to be removed from an animal any official identification device as defined in 9 C.F.R. § 86.1, or otherwise misuses or causes an official identification device to be misused, may be imprisoned for not more than one year or fined not more than $1,000.00, or both.
