U.S. Virgin Islands § 3 — U.S. Virgin Islands law

(a) Except in cases where a different punishment is prescribed by law—\n(1) every crime or offense declared to be a felony is punishable by imprisonment not exceeding five years; and\n(2) every crime or offense declared to be a misdemeanor is punishable by a fine not exceeding $200 or by imprisonment not exceeding one year, or by both.\n(b) When—\n(1) an act or omission is declared by this Code or other law to be a crime or public offense, but without designation thereof as either a felony or a misdemeanor; and\n(2) no penalty therefor is prescribed by this Code or other law—\nthe act or omission is punishable as a misdemeanor.
