U.S. Virgin Islands § 483 — U.S. Virgin Islands law

Whoever—\n(1) being a parent, relative, guardian, employer or otherwise, and having in his care, custody or control any child under the age of 12 years, sells, apprentices, gives away, lets out or otherwise disposes of any such child to any person under any name, title, or pretense for the vocation, use, occupation or service of begging in any public street or highway, or in any mendicant business whatsoever; or\n(2) takes, receives, hires, employs, uses or has in custody any child for such purposes of any of them—\nshall be fined not more than $500 or imprisoned not more than 1 year, or both.
