U.S. Virgin Islands § 839 — U.S. Virgin Islands law

(a) Any person who shall put up at any hotel, motel, inn, restaurant or cafe as a guest and shall procure any food, entertainment or accommodation without paying therefor, except when credit is given therefor by express agreement, with intent to defraud such keeper thereof out of the pay for the same, or who, with intent to defraud such keeper out of the pay therefor, shall obtain credit at any hotel, motel, inn, restaurant or cafe for such food, entertainment or accommodation, by means of any false show of baggage or effects brought thereto, shall be fined not more than $200 or imprisoned not more than 6 months, or both. No conviction shall be made under the provisions of this section unless complaint is made within 60 days of the time of the violation hereof.\n(b) Obtaining such food, lodging or accommodations by false pretenses, or by false or fictitious show of baggage or other property, or refusal or neglect to pay therefor on demand, or payment thereof with check, draft or other upon a bank or other depository on which payment was refused, or absconding without paying or offering to pay therefor, or surreptitiously removing or attempting to remove baggage shall be prima
