(a) Whoever takes property—\n(1) which is of $500 or more in value; or\n(2) from the person of another—\ncommits grand larceny and shall be imprisoned for not more than 10 years.\n(b) Whoever is convicted of grand larceny shall be required to pay mandatory restitution.
