(a) No person, without privilege to do so and with purpose to prevent, obstruct, or delay the performance by a peace officer, firefighter, or first responder of any authorized act within the peace officer’s, firefighter’s, or first responder’s official capacity, shall do any act that hampers or impedes a peace officer, firefighter or first responder in the performance of lawful duties.\n(b) Whoever violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be punished by a fine of not more than $1,000, or imprisoned for not more than one (1) year, or both.
