All teachers and other professional personnel of the Department of Education appointed as provided in this chapter shall be subject to the provisions of section 527 of Title 3 relating to probational appointments, except that no such employee shall be removed from his or her position without the approval of the Governor and provided further that the requirements for tenure provided in subsection (j) of section 121 apply.
