(a) Leaves of absence for employees in the Department of Education in excess of 30 days may be recommended by the Commissioner of Education and the Virgin Islands Board of Education, and granted by the Governor, provided that no such leave shall affect tenure.\n(b) Leaves of absence for employees in the Department of Education up to 30 days shall be recommended by the Insular Superintendent of schools and approved by the Commissioner of Education, provided that no such leave shall affect tenure.
