(a) Whoever abandons a motor vehicle under the provisions of this chapter shall be fined not less than $1,000 nor more than $2,500 for each abandoned vehicle and may also be prohibited from registering or licensing a vehicle or renewing his driver's license.\n(b) The penalty established in subsection (a) is separate from any other penalty under the law.
