(a)\n(1) An insurance producer may not act as an agent of an insurer unless the insurance producer becomes an appointed agent of that insurer.\n(2) An insurance producer may not act as a solicitor of an agent or broker unless the insurance producer becomes an appointed solicitor of that agent or broker.\n(b)\n(1) To appoint an insurance producer as its agent, the appointing insurer shall file, in a format approved by the Commissioner, a notice of appointment not more than 15 days after the date the agreement is executed.\n(2) To appoint an insurance producer as its solicitor, the appointing agent or broker shall file, in a format approved by the Commissioner, a notice of appointment not more than 15 days after the date the agreement is executed.\n(c) An insurer, or agent or broker shall pay an appointment fee, in the amount and method of payment as prescribed by the Commissioner or by regulation, for each agent appointed by the insurer or solicitor appointed by the agent or broker.
