No pedestrian shall cross a street other than at a marked crosswalk or at any crosswalk at an intersection except as directed by sign or order of a police officer. Any such pedestrian crossing a roadway at any place other than a marked crosswalk, any crosswalk at an intersection or posted pedestrian crossing, except as otherwise directed by a police officer shall be fined not more than $25.00 for the first offense within any one year period and not more than $50.00 for any second or subsequent offense within any one year period.
