U.S. Virgin Islands § 294 — U.S. Virgin Islands law

(1) Every motorboat shall carry and be fitted with such life-saving, fire-fighting and fire-prevention equipment, sound signalling devices, and, between sunset and sunrise, shall exhibit lights, all as may be required by the rules and regulations of the Commissioner, provided only that the requirements of such rules and regulations shall not exceed the requirements of Federal laws, rules and regulations applicable to such vessels.\n(2) Every motorboat shall carry such additional equipment designed to promote the safety of navigation and of persons as the Commissioner may find to be appropriate and for which he has provided in his rules and regulations.\n(3) No person shall operate or give permission for the operation of a vessel which is not equipped as required by this section or modification thereof.
