The provisions of sections 560 and 562 of this title shall not apply to any employee employed in such extraordinary emergencies, as those resulting directly from fire, flood, storm or similar natural forces, or epidemic or illness or disease, or emergencies involving public safety which require employment in excess of the hours specified in section 560 of this title in order that life, health, or property may be preserved.
