The Commissioner of Human Services of the Government of the United States Virgin Islands shall make application to the United States Department of Agriculture for participation in the Food Stamp Plan established by the Food Stamp Act of 1964, as amended by Public Law 93–86, the Agriculture and Consumer Protection Act of 1973, and shall do such other acts and take such further steps as shall be necessary to comply with the federal regulations issued under the foregoing federal laws in order to qualify for local participation in the Federal Food Stamp Plan.
