(a) Investigations of reports of known or suspected instances of elder or dependent adult abuse are the responsibility of the Department of Human Services when the following are alleged:\n(i) emotional abuse;\n(ii) neglect;\n(iii) abandonment;\n(iv) isolation;\n(v) maltreatment;\n(vi) exploitation;\n(vii) deprivation by a care custodian of goods or services necessary to avoid physical or emotional injury;\n(viii) the use of physical or chemical restraint or psychotropic medication:\n(A) for punishment;\n(B) for a period beyond that for which the medication was ordered; or\n(C) for any purpose not authorized by a physician or surgeon.\n(ix) physical abuse;\n(x) financial abuse;\n(xi) abduction; or\n(xii) sexual misconduct.\n(b) The investigative responsibilities set forth in this section are in addition to, and not in derogation of or substitution for, the investigative and regulatory responsibilities of licensing agencies and their authorized representatives.\n(c) In each district the Department Human Services shall maintain a directory of all public and private service agencies available to assist victims of abuse.
