As used in this act:\n(1) 'Department' means the Department of Human Services.\n(2) 'Family preservation services' means intensive, short term concentration of comprehensive support coordinated by professional social workers to stabilize family cruises, foster family self-sufficiency, and to reduce or avoid the need for unnecessary and imminent foster care placement.\n(3) 'Foster care' means the placement of a child by the Department in a home or facility designated by the Department's rules and regulations as a 'foster home'.\n(4) 'Imminent' means a decision has been made by the Department that, without family preservation services, a petition requesting the removal of a child from the family home will be immediately filed in the Superior Court of the Virgin Islands, or that a voluntary placement agreement will be immediately initiated.
