The pertinent provisions of chapter 77 of Title 14 of this code shall apply to every application, statement and document and to all information presented to the Executive Secretary in the application or at the preliminary hearing, or presented to the Commission at the final consideration of an application for compensation under this chapter; and, in addition, whoever, in any matter during a preliminary hearing or a final consideration, knowingly and willfully falsifies, conceals, or covers up by any trick, scheme, or device a material fact, or makes any false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or representation or makes or uses any false writing or document knowing the same to contain any false, fictitious, or fraudulent statement or entry, shall be fined not more than $1,000 or imprisoned for not more than 5 years, or both.
