U.S. Virgin Islands § 323 — U.S. Virgin Islands law

Whenever the services of an interpreter are deemed by the judge presiding in a court of justice in this territory to be required in a trial or other proceeding in such court the judge may appoint a qualified person to act temporarily as an interpreter in such court. Any interpreter so appointed shall receive not to exceed $20 for each day's attendance required by the judge and for the time necessarily occupied in going to and returning from the court and, if required to serve in a judicial division other than that of his residence, his necessary expenses of transportation and an allowance of $5 per day for subsistence.
