Subject to the provisions of section 778 of Title 3, the following fees shall be charged by notaries public:\n(1)\nProtest on notes and bills of exchange, when the note is issued in an amount\n(A) Not over $500\n$3.50\n(B) Over $500 and not over $1,500\n4.50\n(C) Over $1,500 and not over $3,000\n5.50\n(D) Over $3,000 and not over $5,000\n6.50\n(E) Over $5,000\n7.50\n(2)\nOther protests, etc.\n2.50\n(3)\nReceiving marine note of protest\n3.50\n(A) For copy of the proceedings, double the amount of ordinary fees for copies under section 882 of Title 3.\n(4)\nAuthorization of journals for American vessels\n2.50\n(5)\nOaths, affirmations and acknowledgments, as provided in section 520 of this title.
