U.S. Virgin Islands § 1172 — U.S. Virgin Islands law

An action may be maintained in the name of the government of the Virgin Islands upon the information of the United States attorney or upon the relation of a private person against the person offending in the following cases:\n(1) When any person shall usurp, intrude into, or unlawfully hold or exercise any public office, or any franchise within the Virgin Islands, or any office in a corporation, either public or private, created or formed by or under the authority of the Virgin Islands; or,\n(2) When any public officer has done or suffered an act to be performed which, by the provisions of law, makes a forfeiture of his office; or,\n(3) When any association or number of persons acts within the Virgin Islands as a corporation without being duly incorporated.
