If any of the provisions of this chapter or chapter 5 or 7 of this title or the application thereof to any person or circumstances are held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications of such chapters which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end, the provisions of such chapters are declared to be severable.
