Notwithstanding any contrary provision of law, general or special, the governing body of any locality may provide for payment of monetary bonuses to its officers and employees. The payment of a bonus shall be authorized by ordinance.\n1985, c. 142, § 15.1-7.4; 1997, c. 587; 2003, c. 204.
