RCW 70.47.240Discontinuation of health coverage—Preexisting condition.If a person was previously enrolled in a group health benefit plan, an individual health benefit plan, or a catastrophic health plan that is discontinued by the carrier by July 1, 2012, at any time during the sixty-three day period immediately preceding their application date for nonsubsidized coverage in the basic health plan as a nonsubsidized enrollee, the basic health plan must credit the applicant's period of prior coverage toward any preexisting condition waiting period applicable under the basic health plan if the benefits under the previous plan provide equivalent or greater overall benefit coverage than that provided in the basic health plan for nonsubsidized enrollees.[ 2012 c 64 s 3.]NOTES:Effective date—2012 c 64: 'This act is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health, or safety, or support of the state government and its existing public institutions, and takes effect immediately [March 23, 2012].'
