(a) The commissioner may enter into agreements to provide for the rendering of mutual aid with the political subdivisions of this state, other states, and the federal government to provide for the common defense, protect the public peace, health, and safety and to preserve the lives and property of the people of this state.(b) Any agreement entered into under this section shall be with the consent and approval of the Secretary of the Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety, and shall include a provision within each agreement allowing for the immediate termination by the secretary or commissioner at any time.
