9-1-619. Agents to be safeguarded as peace officers; duty of sheriffs and police to receive and detain prisoners. Any sheriff, chief of police or other person having charge of a jail or other place of detention shall receive any prisoner arrested by agents of the division within the jurisdiction served by the jail or place of detention and shall detain the person in custody in the same manner as if he were arrested by a peace officer within the jurisdiction.
